Huntington Community Association Meeting
April 5, 2018

Mount Vernon Council of Community Associations (MVCCA)
General Council Meeting – Art Ovalle
Wendy’s/Pizza Hut stretch is in some doubt as developer has encountered problems and may be looking to sell.
Riverside developers have expressed interest in purchasing the Sunoco property; gas station company still intent on pursuing construction of gas station there (County will not support the gas station)
Plant nursery on Rt. 1 to be open soon; will be a temporary nursery
There are growing safety concerns over the Huntington Metro garage top
Earth Day is April 22nd, and the HCA is doing a Saturday cleanup to focus on the stairs and patch up Biscayne to the Metro.
Planning and Zoning - Ray Novitske
Transportation - Jeff Woodward
Nothing to report beyond what Art communicated from the general committee meeting.

Huntington Levee Update
Everything is still on schedule
Resident complained about large tires mixed into a dirt mound. The county representative was contacted and the tires and other debris were removed.
The pump station building has been complete and the backup generator has been installed
Dominion Energy will be relocating some wires in the east end of the site over the next few weeks, and then COX cable will come in to move their wires to align with the power cables.
There will be some concrete work done at the end of Fenwick through the end of May. This will impact the last houses of the street so that they will not have access to their driveway.

Budget and Finance – Christoph Schmid
Budget was passed pretty easily. There will be a increase in real estate taxes by 2.5 cents per $100 value. This will lead to a projected increase to the budget of 200 million.
Neighborhood Watch – Nick Lombardo
No one contacted the neighberhood watch last month.
There were a few small incidents, including several drug related arrests. There was a vehical theft reported in Huntington Club.
The Suntrust Bank on Rt. 1 was robbed.
Residents are urged to keep an eye out for domestic violance. Summer months often correspond to uptick in security incidents
