Huntington Consevation Plan |
In 1976, Huntington was designated a county conservation area immediately prior to construction of the metro
station. A conservation plan with short term and long range tasks was developed at that time to serve as a guide for improvements and
future development with the overall goal of preserving the community.

Beltway Sound Wall |
The Virginia Department of Transportation are planning
construction of a sound barrier along the widened Interstate 95 as part of the Wilson Bridge construction project. The wall
as currently proposed would be from 10-20' high along the portion directly across from Huntington Park. It would be constructed
along the raised highway portion of the wider beltway across Cameron Run, and would look like similar sound barriers recently
constructed in Springfield and Herndon. VDOT engineers believe the wall will be needed since sound generated by traffic on the
Beltway will increase once the bridge is completed and the Beltway is widened. They believe that the wall should reduce the noise
levels below what currently exist for residents along Arlington Terrace and Fenwick Drive.
